Copy of letter No.17 from Sgt. Pilot Murray Wilson to H.M.W.

20th. December 1941

Yesterday was a day of days, I got six letters including two from you. There were two from Mother, one each from Mean and Adele and your Nos. 14 and 20, and your included a copy of Rae's to you - so you see it sure was a big day for me.

From what I can gather your No.12 letter was sent Clipper, but I haven't got it yet dear. I haven't got 13 either but that is coming ordinary mail to there is plenty of time for it. Also I've got 10 and 11 of Mothers but not 8 and 9 yet. I do hope they come along and are not lost. Also it is nearly 3½ months since you posted your first parcel and that hasn't arrived yet. I haven't despaired of getting it though as parcels take a long time. Perhaps I'll get something before Xmas. and that would be grand. There must be a lot of parcels on the way for me now. It is nice to know that people think of me and think it worthwhile to write and send me parcels.

Thank you ever so much for making the cake for me - I am just dying to get it, I've got a confession to make too - I wish I had brought the Johnsons Baby Powder you got for me and I scorned. (Have since sent a large jar of Mens Talc and this parcel has been acknowledged by cable. M.W.). You can't get it here and a few times I would have been glad of it, also the white lipstick and if I should go out East I will want them more. So will you please send me some powder dear?

You have asked me several times what you could send me dear. There are one or two things which are unobtainable here that I'd like, but don't go sending me too much, but for all that it will be jolly nice to get your parcels. Films I have already mentioned I think - size 127 in panotomic X and super XX Super XX is better here but if I get East Pan. X will probably be better. Some tinnned cheese, chocs., honey or tinned cream would be jolly good. Here we have been getting all the butter and sugar we want, but in the next mess it may not be so, of course you can't send any butter even if we are short. I told you before that we are going to Silloth on the 23rd. Apart from that cake will be great - we can get shaving cream and toothpaste but Ipana is hard to find - I've seen it once and grabbed some butnow it is gone - I use this paper because it is better in my writing case.
