My Dear Margaret

As I promised to write again it is about time I fulfil my promise I do feel for yourself Margaret, and Judith and the boys — no father coming home in the evening for the boys now, and it will be very very sad for you Margaret also for Judith. I had better not dwell in this letter on the sadness & grief, but talk about the lighter things.

There is a balance owing by Murray of £400 or to be more exact £405-6-11. You need not pay any of this. Rae tells me that you are owing about £1100 pounds on the house to the War Service Homes Commission. I would advise you to see the Commission, and would point out to them that you lost your husband (Dear Murray) and ask them to extend the terms for repayment I hope you have no personal issues[?] . I am asking Mr Arklay to pay Murray's salary till the end of the year.

Judith will be a great comfort to you at this time of sorrow. I hear that she is wonderful in the house.

Excuse this brief note Margaret Sister Margaret went into hospital at Heidelberg (Heidelberg House) yesterday Wednesday 21st. We were loth to let her go. She underwent a skin grafting operation on her face today, and there is more to be done. She was terribly burned, and she will be better in hospital where she will get first class nursing and medical attention which she certainly deserves.

With love to yourself Margaret Judith, Alan and Ronald

I am

Yours affectionately

Uncle Charlie

PS Aunty Maime sends her love to you & will write very soon.
