DEATH OF MR. F. H. V. HESTER
General regret was expressed on Monday last when it became known that Mr. F. H. V. Hester had succumbed to the affection of the heart from which be suffered. A few weeks previous to his death Mr. Hester had been forced to seek medical advice, and remained in town for a few days until he felt sufficiently well to undertake the trip back to the Turner River. Evidently this trip was too trying for a man in his weak state, however, and within a brief period of his reaching his home, he had to return to Roebourne, arriving here on Sunday. His condition was at once regarded as serious by Dr. Maunsell, though the end came rather sooner than was expected. Mr. Hester was an old identity of tho Nor'-West, and highly-respected by everyone with whom lie came in contact. He had for many years been engaged in pastoral pursuits, and a few years ago was interested in commercial ventures at Mallina and Balla Bulla, He was a justice of the peace for the district, and at one time a member of the Roebourne Roads Board, displaying in both capacities strong common sense, if not brilliancy. He succeeded in wending his way along life's rugged path without making any enemies, whilst his friends embraced scores, and a man who in these days of strife can show a record like Mr. Hester's may indeed be proud. The deceased, who was 44 years of age, leaves a wife and one child to mourn their loss. The funeral took place at the Anglican cemetery on Tuesday morning, the Rev. H. Pitts conducting the burial service.
