My dear brother

As we have determined to remain here a few days longer I think it proper to advise you of the same, last week we got 18/6 each very poor considering the risk one continually runs in the old ground Joe the carter was in hopes you would have written again, so that he might have known which place was the best to remove to. A rush which promises well has taken place on Phillips’s Flat one mile from here: we have removed Farrar’s place on condition, if he does anything in the grog line he is to board us whilst we test the rush, we have our ‘claim’ on Private property for 30/- and another one on Govt land the latter we intend to sink night and day – 40 feet the one on purchased land we hold for 3 months whether we work it or not. I think you had better write on receipt of this: we will wait until we hear from you, and then whether you have removed to [?Kays] or elsewhere we shall have no difficulty in finding you please state the depth of sinking so that we may know if it would be worth bringing the fan, as I do not like to sacrifice it for 15/- I have a letter from Aunt about the Port Curtis mania if it turns up trumps she intends trying her fortune on a new diggings but to date of her letter 23rd Septr trustworthy information was not to be had even in Sydney. I wrote you on receipt of your favor enclosing £1 and hope it came to hand all right I shall direct this the same. I have not time to add more just now except that

I remain as ever

Your affecte brother
