Description: A letter from Lady Ethel Bedford regarding the Australian Exhibition of Women's Work, sent to "the Mayoress of Cossack". At that time there was no Mayoress, and the recipient was Harold Aubrey Hall (the Mayor).

Note that 'Cossack' and part of 'Madam' are written in a different ink.

The date on the cover note is not correct.

Dear Madam

The accompanying circular will give you some details of the Exhibition of Women's Work for All Australia, which it is proposed to hold in Melbourne next year.

I am most anxious that Western Australia should be well repres- ented at the exhibition, & I write to ask you if you will be so kind as to undertake the task of forming a local committee of the princi- pal representative ladies in your town,

asking them to interest themselves & to do all in their power to interest others in sending [illegible]  & competing for prizes in every kind of women's work at the forthcoming exhibition.

I am sending at the same time half a dozen [illegible]  circulars for you to di- tribute, more copies can be forwarded if required, & further particulars connected with this work can be obtained
