My dear Uncle

I thank you so much for all your kindness to my little boy while he was with you. I had a letter from him enclosed in Flora’s, he seems quite happy since he left home and enjoying himself with the fresh butter and cream. I wish it was not so far away so that I could have a run up some time to see you all, but it costs such a lot when one only has a little and some of that gone in the Bank, though I suppose I should not grumble, there are so many not as well off as I am.

You would laugh to see your old friend George Leake and his young wife, she was his house keeper when he married her, she is about thirty three or four and very plain, wears specks and got her living by Typewritting before she left Melbourne, and Lady Steere told me she could only have married him to get a comfortable home.

The Steeres eldest son married a Miss Forrest, a girl brought up in the bush, the Steeres did not like the match, but I think she makes him a very good wife, they have a baby girl lately.

I will send you one of my photos but it was taken a long while ago, when I was not quite so ancient as I am now. What is my piece of land worth in Roebourne could you give me any idea.

Love to Aunt and Joy not forgetting lots for your dear old self

Roy is writting at the same time and worring [sic] me and made me blot this.
