Christmas /53
My dear Girl
Thinking of you all & you in particular all day, so glad you are with Mother today. I have only spoken to one person all day (no one called at the office thank goodness) & that was when I went to Major
Solling's for the milk, his initials are R.A.F. Rex. Aubrey Fritz.
I have pictured you as not being able to sleep in this morning, the boys probably minding you roam[?] [illegible] early & a busy time tomorrow [illegible] getting the family up to 59.
As soon as we closed down yesterday I had a day off, then got to work on the books & returns. Balanced the ledger this morning & posted all returns to date. Had a bath, shave & cut my own hair & did a [illegible] of cooking, then opened my Christmas parcels.
O'Reilly sent me Punch Christmas number, in it you
must see advertised by Clarkes a new invention in foot wear. A sole & heel in one piece joined to the upper without sewing.
Expect to cut out[?] here inside 3 wks, then to [illegible] possibly to pack up for good, but I hear the leading hadn has pulled out, in which case I might be delayed.
