Dear Aubrey

I received your letter yesterday, there were also two for Blanche, she is coming tomorrow to stay a few days, and will then be able to peruse them, she is apparently quite well though still thin. Uncle Gus is extremely erratic as Blanche is, and is not fond of letter writing, but he would probably write to you if he were sure Blanche was engaged to you, but at the Blackwood she denies the fact positively, and told her mother when she wrote to as the same, so you cannot blame Uncle Guss greatly, when he was in Perth lately he asked me whether Blanche was engaged to you, and I of course said “yes”, he cannot understand her at all. Joy was over here lately, she is very well but has had a lot of worry through the children being ill. Jack and Tom have had whooping cough, they are naughty and fight a good deal, so I do not think they are “growing in grace” though I trust they will some day, they are still ship building. Mr Leishman who lately lunched with you at Cossack was talking to Leslie today, he did not know you were cousins, his and our back yards join so we often see him and the members of his family. Please thank Aunt for her letter, was pleased to hear from her once again, Leslie objects to my doing point lace, as he says it causes my head to ache, so I cannot make any for aunt, unless I deliberately disobey him which I once promised not to do. Poor old Aunt Dora is very ill, she has a good nurse and every thing is being done for her, that the doctor can think of or suggest, but so far she is not getting better poor Leslie is very worried.

With love to you all I will end

Your affectionate cousin
