Abydos was taken up by Harold Aubrey Hall, Henry Ernest Hall, Reginald Hester, Valentine Hester. I once asked Dad why he went such a dreaful distance from Roebourne in the day of the horse, and he replied that it was the best land left not already taken up, so it must have been "new" country. Dad hated to break a mirror — he said that he & the Hesters and others were sky larkins in the office at Cossack when someone broke a mirror. Soon after Val H. died, they had to buy out his widow Rosa (he always disliked her I don't quite know why) then nothing went right. I rather think that Reg. H. took legal action against HAH and HEH at one time. I may be wrong here about Hester wives. Tilly Logne I think was young Regs' mother, but was she old Reg's wife? I don't know when they took up Abydos, but it was before Hannah's illness, as she wanted to go up there, and wasn't allowed.
