My dear Letitia

I received your note dated August 21 some time since and should have written sooner but thought I might gain a little more information first but so seldom see any person who I could relie upon as to whether it would pay Robert to come here to cut or cart timber if he really think of entering in to such a speculation he must come up him self I need not say how happy we shall all be to see him the Boys are always wishing they could see him just walking into the house. Tell Robert that I think the sawyers get 3£ per load for their timber at the Landing I do not know how much a load is. Nothing has been done to the River yet Mr Bickley says the government will not clear the River above the Stones he wished to have it done above the oak trees because there is the best place for a road from the Hills I am glad it’s not to be cleared beyond the Rapid it would have given the salt water more room to come up during the summer.

I spent a very pleasant evening at Mrs Bickleys lately Captain Jarman was there he is engaged to Miss Bickley he is going to England in about a fortnight he is taking a small Box of Beetles that Willie and Charley have collected for their Aunt we are to have a Picnic up at the Waterfalls before he goes. Wongong has changed hands again a gentleman from India has bought it for six hundred pounds and given a hundred & fifty for the stock upon it. I saw Mr Brown at Mr Bickley’s he is a middle aged agreeable person he is going to have it improved, his wife and family are in England George saw him at Bickleys a few days ago and he said he was going to have a Picnic up there. I have lately had a letter addressed to my poor Father from a Nephew by marriage he married Mrs Ballestiers sister who wrote to Edward I have answered the letter and have enclosed it to Edward he might like to write Robert must get it from him it will save my having to explain the contents It is now nearly a month since the Strathmore came in and I do not think our Box is landed yet I am very much in want of some of its contents I have been trying to do with as little as possible in the way of clothing knowing they were coming. I am sorry I cannot give Robert more information about timber I live so retired I see no one to ask about it With the united love of the Boys believe me

Your affectionate Sister

S S Knight

Give the Children each a kiss from me

PS When you come to see me you will find I am getting quite a grey headed old Lady
