Feb 21st 1949.

Dear Miss Hall,

Sorry I'm so late answering your note & thanking your Dad & self for the Xmas box. The wife & I was thrilled[?]  to think your Dad appreciated the little assistance we gave him while in the district.

Sweets arrived in good order & were very tasty.

Before writing any more I had better explain why I'm so late writing. The day after the sweets arrived the wife's mother took seriously ill & we had to hurry away.

Have only been home a week. Mother-inlaw being OK again at present.

In concluding I sincerely[?]  hope your Dad is in the best of health. Once again thank your Dad very much.

Yours Sincerely
J.R. Sheppard.
