Description: Three pages of a letter by H. Aubrey Hall to an unknown recipient. Written after 1956 as he refers to his "late cousin E.A. Hall".

Transcription

The late Michael Samson in his youth was pearling & Pt Samson was named for him, yet half baked reporters persist in spelling it Sampson.

Mr Hamersley [illegible]  the [illegible] -horses for Frank Gregory's NW exploration, in which[?]  employ[?]  named WA's loftiest range for him, yet again & again you see it spelt with 2 Ms. Apologies for this [illegible]  old as I grows tedious, no reply called for. Yours truly HA Hall

River is [illegible]  Hackett & a partner[?]  had a few [illegible]  on the Wooramel River on a well still called Hackett's Well.

Many years ago I was Overseer on Wooramel Station for my late cousin E.A. Hall

& being before the days of [illegible]  self lubricating mills frequently had the job of oiling Hackett's Well Mill.

Hackett yarns[?]  [illegible]  in the river then, one was that Hackett went to Perth to do some partnership business, the lawyer said that the documents could only be completed by his partner also being present. There was an important repeating station at that time at Hamelin Pool so Hackett wrote his partner to come to Perth first opportunity. Partner replied "cannot leave, ewes due to start lambing shortly". Hackett then wrote "Imperative you come Perth suggest you postpone lambing".
