Dear Aubrey

I forgot to add in my epistolary writing, the notice in the West Australian of Mrs James Cooper’s death, 28th Jany, also an interesting tribute headed “Old Mandurah”, very true of her life I think, she could remember old Mr Peel, Uncle Henry & our Father & had a very deep reverence for them all. You would remember her I think, she took us all in the time we were caught in a rain storm & drenched. I might send it to you for a loan, if you have not seen it; it was in Thursday Jany 31st W A, & also W[estern] M[ail] papers.

I wonder if it is possible to work any magic re a block of land, I happen to know, Lieutenant Jessie Clifton (nurse, Waller Clifton) & her sister Rosina are selling their house in a low lying part of South Perth & Jessie is going to build through the Repatriation at Como on her land & offered a portion of it to Lily & Eric W, for a very small amount, but they want to be nearer to Fremantle Office. Ger is very fond of these nieces & I might give Jessie the lip to offer it to Ger. I don’t know Eric well enough & I would not suggest it to Lily, as you never know when they might let one down. Although Lily did tell her Father that “she would kick her future husband in the buttock, if he did not provide her a better wash house, than this”, also she would not be treated as a nonentity, as I was, the young bride to be is full of beans these days & her Father lets her say anything to him. Well I would like you to let me ask Eric Wellard to call if he goes to Carnarvon, & one never knows, does one, you may be able to influence him quietly.
