Norman Merrett Hancox (1912–1990) was Professor of Histology and Medical Cell Biology at Liverpool University.[1] He wrote the standard text on bone biology, Biology of Bone (Cambridge University Press, 1972, OCLC 340884).
In 1937 he was living at 26 Coram Street in Holborn, London.[2]
In the Second World War he was a Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve Doctor/Surgeon[3] on board HMS Royal Oak when she was torpedoed on 14 October 1939 in Orkney by the German submarine U-47. Later in the war he worked at Porton Down.[4]
He was born on 11 November 1912 in Cheshire.[5]
He died on 15 January 1990.[6]
