Description:

Murray did not ever bother about applying for the war medals to which he was entitled. Following an item int he press regarding the number of servicemen who were like minded, I suggested that he should apply in case his sons would like to see, or have, them. A few days before he died the parcel came. Eight years had elapsed since his RAAF discharge & he was able to look at the these more dispassionately — he had hated the war & all it involved — & he accepted his 3yr & 6yr old sons enthusiasm for these.
