Hubert Sylvian Hall was born on 25 March 1885 in Roebourne[1] to Lillian and James Hall[2] Also known as 'Hugh'.[3]

In 1907 he stole money from his employer Goode, Durrant, and Co.[4]

He married Isor Cecile Ester Hall (née Deakin) and they had three sons: Geoffrey Hubert Hall, Peter Beresford Hall, and Evan Herbert Hall.

He sat on the committee of the Moora Racing Club.[5]

He died on 17 October 1929, when living on Walebing Road in Moora. Farmer, aged 44. Cause of death: effects of cynide poisoning, self administered. Parents: Anderton Hall and Lily Bruce. Buried 19 October 1929, Karrakatta. Born Roebourne. Married aged 29 in Fremantle, to Cecile Deakin. Living issue: Geoffrey (14 years), Evan (12), and Peter (5).[2]

OBITUARY

THE LATE MR. H. S. HALL

The death of Mr. Herbert S. Hall, a very well known and highly respected citizen of Moora, occurred at his residence, Walebing-road, on October 17. The deceased, who was 44 years of age, had been farming at Moora for the past four years, and previously followed pastoral pursuits in the North-West. He was a member of the original 10th Light Horse, and saw three years' active service, being invalided home with loss of one arm. Since his return he had been a very active member of the Returned Maimed and Limbless Men's Association. The esteem in which he was held was demonstrated at Moora at a service conducted in the Anglican Church, at which the Rev. Gunning officiated. After the service the hearse, preceded by about thirty returned men, and six pall-bearers, taken from his original company of the 10th Light Horse, proceeded to the railway station, where the remains were entrained for Perth. The funeral cortege in Perth moved from Messrs. Bowra and O'Dea's private mortuary and proceeded to the Anglican Cemetery, Karrakatta, where his remains were interred. The Rev. J. Bell officiated at the graveside. The chief mourners were Mrs. Ceclle Hall (widow), Masters Geoffrey, Evan and Peter Hall (sons). Messrs. A. Deakin, and J. Wilson (brothers-in-law). Mr. F. W. Teesdale M.L.A. (step-father). The pall-bearers were Messrs. M. J. Lavan, J. Walsh. J. Durack. J. C. Taylor, E. Smallpage, and A. B. Jarvis. Amongst those present were J.' Monaghan, C. J. Craig, L. C. Maitland. G. Fraser, F.G. Wilson, R. G. Agnew, R. A. Hamilton (representing Dalgety and Co. Ltd.). N. C. Francisco, H. .R. Francisco, C. Deakin, C. J. Lee Meosurier, O. Veter, J. and W. Withnell, W. J. Pead, E. W. Arundel (representing 10th Light Horse), F. L. Prentice, L. and B. St. John Kennedy and A. Halliday. Wreaths were sent by his sorrowing wife and family, Lil and the children, Arthur and Het, loving sister fidith and family, loving sister Maud and brother-in-law Stanley and family, Mrs. C. J.
